Red Hat Network Security

Red Hat Network utilizes the following security mechanisms to protect the integrity of customer information and systems:

  • Your System Profile available at http://rhn.redhat.com is only accessible with the correct user name and password.
  • A Digital System ID is stored on the registered system and is used to authenticate each transaction between Red Hat Network and the client system.
  • All data transfer between Red Hat internal systems is across private, non-advertised, non-accessible networks.
  • All Red Hat Network servers operate with Red Hat products with all security updates applied.
  • All transactions are encrypted using a 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection.
  • All notifications and update packages are signed by Red Hat with an electronic signature, GNU Privacy Guard, to ensure authenticity.
  • All communications between Red Hat Network and registered systems are initiated by the registered systems to avoid violating firewall policies.

Red Hat takes security of customer information and systems very seriously. Please report any instances of security vulnerability with any Red Hat product or service to security@redhat.com.
