RED HAT SUBSCRIPTION RENEWAL SALES OPPORTUNITIES

When selling Red Hat offerings, you're selling subscriptions, not licenses. The subscriptions entitle end-customers to receive a set of services that support the software. If you sold Red Hat offerings in Spring 2006, now is the time to follow-up with those customers on subscription renewal opportunities. By renewing their subscriptions, end-customers will continue to receive timely product updates and service support. Following up on renewals also provides you an excellent opportunity to consult with your customers and ensure that their technology needs are being met.


RED HAT SUBSCRIPTION BUSINESS MODEL DEFINED

Red Hat sells subscriptions that entitle end-customers to receive a set of services that support open source software (primarily Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®, Red Hat Applications and JBoss) during the subscription term.

Red Hat solutions are delivered as annual subscriptions. Subscriptions are renewable. End-customers are charged an annual subscription fee per system.

A Red Hat subscription includes:

Technology--Tested and certified software products and expert documentation.

  1. Certifications--wide choice of hardware and software.
  2. Software updates and maintenance (via Red Hat Network) at no extra charge with an active subscription.
  3. Technical support (web, e-mail, and phone).
  4. Extended software warranties.
  5. Flexibility--ability to transfer subscriptions for system hardware upgrades.
