Order Guide

Red Hat Fulfillment Overview

Red Hat solutions are delivered as annual, renewable subscriptions. These subscriptions are fulfilled electronically to end-customers, providing immediate access to the services and benefits included in their purchase.

Below you will find detailed requirements for ordering Red Hat subscriptions. Please refer to these guidelines should you have questions about what is required for accurate and timely Red Hat subscription fulfillment.

Red Hat Order Data Requirements

Red Hat requires several pieces of information on an order to ensure the subscriptions are fulfilled to the correct party and that all order details are recorded accurately. For each order you submit, Red Hat will validate that information for all 3 order parties has been provided:

  1. Distributor
  2. Reseller
  3. End-customer

If an order does not clearly identify each of these parties, Red Hat will ask you for clarification so that the correct order parties can be recorded and the appropriate account receives access to their subscriptions.

Required Order Information

1.1 For NEW Order:

  • Distributor Name: The company Red Hat will bill for the subscription purchase
  • Reseller Name, address, contact. Email & phone number: The Red Hat partner selling to the end-customer
  • End-customer: The ultimate and rightful owner of the subscription
  • End-customer contact: The point of contact at the end-customer who will utilize the subscription
  • End-customer email address & phone number: Email address of the contact who will utilize the subscription
    • Note: The end-customer email address is necessary for electronic fulfillment
  • Red Hat Login or Red Hat Account Number (required in North America only)

1.2 For a RENEWAL Order:

  • All of the information in Section 1.1 above, additionally, please mark your order as "Renewal Order"
  • All start/end dates or the contract ID of the subscriptions subject to renewal
  • Please note: Renewals can only be accepted if the order is placed within the 14 days period after expiration of the initial term. After the 14 days period the order is not regarded as a renewal anymore.
  • Please use the Red Hat Renewal SKU

1.3 For a CO-TERMINATION Order:

  • All of the information in Section 1.1 above, additionally, please mark your order as "Co-Termination Order"
  • Please use the Co-Termination Calculator provided by Red Hat. Enter the start and end dates per line item of your order into the form.

    For EMEA:
    Once complete, please send the Co-Term Calculator to Partner Helpdesk for verification partner-helpdesk-emea@redhat.com

    For the AMERICAS and APAC:
    Please submit the Co-Term Calculator to your Channel Manager or Inside Sales representative for verification

  • To obtain the Co-Termination calculator, please refer to the Red Hat Partner Portal
  • Attach the verified Co-Term Calculator to your order and submit both documents to Red Hat Order Entry for execution

Please Remember:

A Co-Term deal must have a minimum 12 months term. A Co-Term order may fall into two categories:

  1. An end-customer wants to purchase additional units which will be aligned with the existing installation.
  2. An end-customer wants to extend existing subscriptions to align them all to the same termination date.
  • For scenario 1, please use the SKU for NEW orders
  • For scenario 2, please use the SKU for Renewal orders and provide the Contract Number of the end user.

1.4 If your order is dedicated to a Managed Service Provider:

  • Please provide all of the information described in Section 1.1 above. In addition, please mark your order as "Managed Service Provider (MSP) Order."
    • As a MSP typically provides his own RHN login for fulfillment, Red Hat needs the verification from you, that it is a MSP order.

1.5 If your order is for a System Builder:

  • Please provide all of the information described in Section 1.1 above. In additon, please mark your order as "System Builder Order."
  • Red Hat requires the approval of the local Red Hat channel sales manager in order to fulfill to a qualified System Builder.

For a Not-For-Resale Order:

  • If you are selling Red Hat subscriptions to a reseller for their own consumption (not for resale) please indicate "Not for Resale" on your order.

Optional Order Information

The following data is not mandatory for Red Hat subscription purchases. This data is, however, useful in locating existing customer records. You may provide this data on your order if you have it.

  • Red Hat Login (optional in Asia-Pacific, EMEA, Latin America)
    • Existing customers manage their Red Hat subscriptions with their Red Hat Network login. Generally, the person responsible for the technical management (or system administration) of the subscription knows the desired login for fulfillment.
      Please note:
      • If you do not mention the Red Hat Login on your order, Red Hat will create one for you. Please make sure this is what you and your customer would want us to do.
  • Red Hat Account Number (optional in Asia-Pacific, EMEA, Latin America)
    • The account number is an equivalent unique identifier which will provide the correct electronic location for fulfillment. The account number may be maintained by the end-customer's purchasing agent.
  • Reseller PO Reference

Troubleshooting

  • If an email notification is missing
  • If the end-customer wants to move subscriptions from one RHN account to another
